Maury Elementary School Modernization

Global Engineering Solutions (GES) provided MEP & FP engineering services for the renovation and addition to the Maury Elementary School. The original building was built in 1886 with an addition and ground-level causeway constructed in 1961. The project includes a new addition to house a new kitchen and servery as well as additional classroom space, and an upgrade of the HVAC system in the 1960’s addition. Particular attention was paid to maintaining and preserving historic elements of the building. The Heat Recovery Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) Air-Cooled System is a two-pipe fan... The existing Solis-Cohen Elementary School is unable to meet the demands of the 21st Century Learning Environments, and is need of replacement.  Global Engineering Solutions (GES) is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP & FP) engineering services for the design of the new 143,000 sf facility. The guiding principles that are driving the design for this project include LEED/sustainable design, safety and security, project phasing and site considerations. The HVAC and related mechanical systems will not only be functional and responsive to the need, but... Continue Reading

Kramer Middle School

Global Engineering Solutions (GES) provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering for the renovation of the 154,000 sf middle school to transform the school into a 21st  century high performance educational facility. The school has recently achieved LEED Platinum. To help optimize energy performance, the HVAC system utilizes a heat recovery variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system with a dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) makeup air unit for all academic and administrative areas. The DOAS units are equipped with an energy recovery wheels and outdoor air... Continue Reading

Capitol View Library

GES provided MEP & FP engineering for the renovation of Capitol View Library. To achieve LEED Gold certification the mechanical and electrical systems were completely upgraded. The new mechanical system has a new chiller, cooling tower, condensing boilers, pumps, unit heaters, exhaust fans and automated building control system. The electrical system was replaced with a new 1200A, 120/208V, 3 phase, 4 wire system including new distribution panels and equipment. A new LED lighting system was installed throughout the building to meet current energy codes and LEED requirements, and the system... Continue Reading

Dorothy I. Height (Formally John Eager Howard) Elementary School

Baltimore City Public School buildings were facing a $2.4 billion deficit, with 85% of public schools in poor condition.  John Eager Howard Elementary School (JEH) alone was assessed at needing $14-16 M in renovation and repair costs. In April 2013,  the Baltimore Education Coalition and  Transform Baltimore's hard work paid off when the state approved the $1 B school construction bill.   Over a three year period, these groups have prioritized city school construction funding and worked to bring a plan to fruition for Baltimore City. This school construction bill will fund the first... Continue Reading
