Durden Athletic Center

As part of its strategic plan, Dickinson College made a commitment to update its dated athletic facilities to bring them on par with similar NCAA facilities. A 2013 Masterplan looked at similar Division III schools and provided a roadmap for developing facilities that would help them recruit and retain top ranked athletes to the school. Concurrent to this effort GES provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing fire protection and engineering services for the design of a new athletic training facility at Dickinson College. The project involved demolition of an existing locker room facility, and the construction of a new multi‐faceted athletic training facility to support the men’s football and lacrosse teams and the women’s lacrosse and field hockey teams. The new Durden Athletic Center will greatly assist in the recruitment of top high school athletes by offering state‐of‐the‐art training equipment and amenities. The new two‐story, 24,000 sf facility features separate locker rooms for the Dickinson teams, coaches, officials and visiting teams; a strength‐training and free weight room; sports medicine facilities; a laundry and equipment room; and a team‐meeting/event room with a viewing platform overlooking Biddle field.
