GES Provided Engineering Services at the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant

The D.C. Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant recently became the first utility in North America to use a Norwegian thermal hydrolysis system to convert the sludge left over from treated sewage into electricity. The technology being used is the largest of its kind in the world and expected to provide one-third of the 157-acre plant's power, saving about $10 million annually. The Elmer A. Henderson, a Johns Hopkins Partnership School is the first new Baltimore public school built in 30 years. The vision was to make this school the centerpiece of a major redevelopment.
