Washington Monument Visitor Screening Facility

After a three year closure for repairs, the monument, opened to the public in 2019 with a new Visitor Screening Facility. As part of a construction management team, GES provided commissioning services for the new $11 million facility for the National Park Service. GES optimized the facility’s geothermal heat pump heating and cooling system to ensure peak performance and occupant comfort in the facility. In addition, the team commissioned the facility’s fire alarm and lighting controls systems, before visitors could regain access to the world’s tallest free-standing stone structure.
