Sea Gull Square

GES provided MEP&FP engineering services for a new, five-story, 600+ bed mixed use dormitory and retail complex. The new 230,000 sf facility features 23,000 sf of retail space including food service, bookstores and shopping has become the University’s largest residence hall. The building offers many contemporary amenities including a fitness center, single rooms and modern lounges. Apartments will be equipped with private bedrooms, full kitchens, a common room, and washers and dryers. The sustainable design efforts that assisted in pursuing a LEED Silver certification include recycling the majority of waste from demolition and construction, incorporating bicycle storage rooms to encourage ‘green’ transportation and adding a roof that mitigates heat island effect. The building also features energy efficient HVAC equipment, Energy Star rated apartment appliances, recycled textile flooring and low volatile organic compound paint.
