Lab Conversion for the Advanced Metrology Laboratory (Building 5)

GES provided fire suppression and fire alarm/detection design services for the conversion of an existing clean room into an Advanced Metrology Testing Laboratory. The class 10,000 clean room laboratory required the highest attainable separation from both seismic and airborne vibration. To achieve these requirements, unique design approaches and construction methods were used. Sand filled walls eliminate any noise coming from outside the testing room, and a Piezoelectric Vibration Control system was installed to isolate the testing table from floor vibrations. As part of the electrical design, the effects of Electromagnetic Interference were reduced in the lab. In addition, a complete fire suppression system as well as fire alarm system was provided.
