Ground Breaking Ceremony

Johns Hopkins hosted a groundbreaking for its new building on East Baltimore medical campus. On Friday, May 15, leaders from Johns Hopkins and Baltimore City took up ceremonial shovels to mark the official start of construction for 1812 Ashland. Global Engineering Solutions provided MEP&FP services to house the business accelerator labs, office and conference space. GES Provided Engineering Services at the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant

The D.C. Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant recently became the first utility in North America to use a Norwegian thermal hydrolysis system to convert the sludge left over from treated sewage into electricity. The technology being used is the largest of its kind in the world and expected to provide one-third of the 157-acre plant's power, saving about $10 million annually. The Elmer A. Henderson, a Johns Hopkins Partnership School is the first new Baltimore public school built in 30 years. The vision was to make this school the centerpiece of a major redevelopment. Global Engineering Solutions (GES) was part of the team to turn this vision into reality along with Rogers Partners architects in New York, who won the competition to design the 130,000-square-foot school.
